FRUHPH

Juvé & Camps has participated in the Application of the Ultra High Pressions for Homogenization in Fruite juices and wines for improvement of quality and conservation without additives.

Support for Innovation Cooperation. PDR of Catalonia 2014-2020 Operation 16.01.01.

The main objective of the project is the testing of UHPH technology as a physical non-thermal technology for the stabilisation of beverages of plant origin such as wine, juices and concentrates in order to reduce the use of preservatives and improve their organoleptic characteristics.

However, current UHPH systems have not yet been tested at all possible stages where this technology could be applied to address different requirements of the wine and juice industries and therefore testing is necessary in real environments.

The specific objectives of the overall project are:

  1. Validate UHPH technology in the vegetable beverage industry (smooth, concentrated and wine) and study the lifespan of pasteurized and sterile products stored at cooling temperature and environment, respectively.
  2. To assess and quantify the improvement in the nutrition and functional characteristics of the beverages obtained.
  3. Evaluate the improvement in the sensory profile of products with respect to current conservation techniques.
  4. To eliminate or reduce the use of chemical preservatives in the production of vegetable beverages, specifically juices, concentrates and wines.
  5. Create new products such as young wines available all year round, increasing the market for them.
  6. Improved energy efficiency of the food industry for vegetable drinks.
  7. To raise awareness amongst standardisation and regulation agencies and wine consumers of the benefits of HPU as an alternative method for obtaining products with fewer preservatives.
  8. Generating synergies between different relevant actors in the vegetable beverage sector through a collaborative project where the results will be shared, improving the competitiveness of all companies and making the impact of this project the whole sector.

CIRCULAR BIOECONOMY OF PROXIMITY

Juvé & Camps has participated in the Organic Fertilization in Ecological and Conventional Vineyards

Support for Innovation Cooperation. PDR of Catalonia 2014-2020 Operation 16.01.01.

The main objective of the project is to promote the circular bioeconomics in Catalonia by using livestock injections and other organic amendments from the agri-food industry, for the improvement of the soil and the productivity of Catalan wine farms.

The specific objectives of this project are:

  • To define the appropriate parameters in different treatments for the recovery of waste and organic by-products from agri-ramader industry, including livestock injections, to obtain high quality organic fertilizers.
  • Characterisation of organic fertilizers suitable for conventional production and for ecological production obtained from livestock injections and other organic waste and by-products from agro-industry.
  • Agronomical assessment of in situ fertilization with conventional and ecological organic fertilizers in vine cultivation.
  • An analysis of the technical and economic viability of the creation of a pilot technical service to advise on organic fertilisation to boost the circular bioeconomy of Catalan wine farms.
  • Study of the technical, economic and environmental feasibility of organic fertilization in organic and conventional vineyards.
